Richard is a writer and producer for television based in Brighton. He has written seven episodes of the hit ITV crime drama Grantchester. Prior to writing, he produced three series of Grantchester, covering the exit of James Norton’s character and introduction of Tom Brittney as the new lead alongside Robson Green.

Previously Richard was a Development Exec at Kudos and Head of Development at Lovely Day, working on shows such as Man in an Orange Shirt and Deadwater Fell. In his spare time, he co-wrote the unproduced feature First Born with Jack Thorne for Shine Films. He script edited the Doctor Who’s 50th anniversary special, The Day of the Doctor, as well as the behind-the-scenes drama An Adventure in Space and Time. He wrote one of the short “cinema intros” for the 50th Special and helped develop Peter Capaldi’s debut series, as well as writing comic strips for the Doctor Who Adventures Magazine. 

Previous script editing credits include the first series of Ripper Street and the first series of Peaky Blinders for Tiger Aspect, the BAFTA Award winning BBC3 series The Fades (as well as writing six additional online-only scenes), and assistant script editing on Criminal Justice, Survivors and Five Daughters.

Richard grew up in Pembrokeshire and graduated from Bournemouth University in 2002 with a degree in New Media Production. He worked as a teacher, a film extra, a city temp and a graphic designer before breaking into TV as an Assistant to the Producers in BBC Drama in 2007.
